Sumburgh Head – Keeper’s Cottage
Sumburgh Head Lighthouse Accommodation, Sumburgh Scotland ZE3 9JN

About this listing
Sumburgh Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse in Shetland, and perhaps the most well known. Rising above the precipitous Sumburgh Head cliffs at the southernmost point of mainland Shetland, the Lighthouse is visible from land and sea for miles around.
The property has been finished to a very high standard, with all original features restored or replaced where possible, with the aim of re-creating a traditional Lighthouse Keepers cottage – although with the additional touches of luxury added in! The self-catering accommodation is sited within the complex of Lighthouse Buildings on these majestic cliffs, which are a popular destination with holidaymakers during the summer months.
Sumburgh Head Lighthouse, Visitor Centre and Nature Reserve provides an unforgettable visitor experience through the new Marine Life Centre, interpretive materials and access to previously unavailable areas of the site such as the Smithy, Engine Rooms and Radar Huts. The newly built Education Centre with panoramic views out over the cliffs adds a new dimension to the area and an excellent facility for wet weather activities and private hire.
